Fei Luo



Fei is the Co-Founder and CEO of Toronto-based Liven, a protein ingredient company making highly scalable, sustainable and functional protein ingredients by fermentation of agri-food industry side streams. 

Fei is a biotechnology and sustainability enthusiast. Previously an environmental consultant, Fei successfully introduced molecular biology tools in the energy and resource industry to facilitate environmental decision-making, and generated revenues for the company using this new service stream. By co-founding Liven, Fei aspires to use synthetic biology to make proteins more efficiently than animal farming, and bring a circular economy to the Canadian and global food sector. Fei holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
